Day 1 & 2: JOHANNESBURG (SOUTH AFRICA) - VICTORIA FALLS (ZIMBABWE)

Day 1:

Departure from your home and evening flight in Business Class with your guide to Victoria Falls via Johannesburg, to begin your incredible trip around Southern Africa!

Day 2:

Welcome to Southern Africa!

Check-in at the hotel and in the afternoon, then embark on a peaceful sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.

Dinner and overnight at the Victoria Falls Safari Club.

Day 3: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK (BOTSWANA)

Today, you will cross the unique border in the world that brings together 4 countries. In Botswana’s Chobe National Park, witness the spectacle of two ecosystems, home to extremely varied wildlife including giraffes, antelopes, lions, cheetahs, hippos, and elephants abound. During this water safari, you will get to observe animals up close as they come to drink and relax at the watering holes: an unforgettable experience!

Lunch in the heart of this unique environment. Return to Victoria Falls, dinner, and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: ROVOS RAIL : VICTORIA FALLS - MALINDI

This morning, you will stroll along the famous Victoria Falls, undoubtedly among the most spectacular in the world, before flying over them by helicopter for a breathtaking view! In the late afternoon, board a legendary train, the Rovos "Pride of Africa", for a journey with the elegance and charm of the past. Dinner is served in the dining cars heading to Malindi for the night.

Day 5: ROVOS RAIL : BULAWAYO - HWANGE NATIONAL PARK

Heading south towards Bulawayo, enjoy a safari in Hwange National Park. The train travels along one of the longest straight railway lines in the world, before continuing the journey to the border with South Africa and Beit Bridge, where you will go through customs.

Day 6: ROVOS RAIL : LAND OF BAOBABS - TROPIC OF CAPRICORN

Your train crosses the Land of Baobabs and the Limpopo River to Musina. Crossing of the Tropic of Capricorn shortly before reaching Soekmekaar station. Finally, cross Warmbaths, named for its mineral waters, and Nylstroom.

Day 7, 8 & 9: ROVOS RAIL : PRETORIA - JOHANNESBURG - NAMIB RAND NATURE RESERVE (NAMIBIA)

Day 7:

You will reach Pretoria, your final destination, in the morning. Visit to Parliament, the Museum of the “Great Trek”, and the Voortrekker Monument, with its breathtaking view of the capital. Continuing to Johannesburg, dinner, and overnight at the Saxon Hotel Villas and Spa.

Day 8:

Flight in the morning to Windhoek, Namibia. Arrival at midday and continuation for a scenic flight by private plane to the Namib Rand Nature Reserve. Then fly over some of Southern Africa’s most beautiful landscapes, sculpted by winds and rivers. The afternoon will be an opportunity to enjoy the enchanting setting of your lodge before an excursion into the Namib Desert, considered the oldest on the planet, which at sunset features a special show of lights.

Day 9:

Today, explore the Namib Rand Reserve in a 4×4, through its orange dunes pierced by sharp peaks of black rock, a landscape of fascinating beauty. Your ranger will reveal some secrets of the bushmen (the oldest inhabitants of Southern Africa), the vegetation, and you may have the chance to spot Namibia's iconic onyx among its inhabitants, before returning to your lodge for dinner and the night.

Day 10: NAMIB RAND NATURE RESERVE - SESRIEM

Departure aboard your private plane to Sesriem, another opportunity to fly over fascinatingly beautiful landscapes, and in the afternoon. Embark on an excursion in the Kulala Wilderness private nature reserve. After an unforgettable sunset, enjoy dinner and your overnight in the magical setting of Little Kulala Lodge, looking out into the desert.

Day 11: SOSSUVLEI - SWAKOPMUND

Departure at dawn to witness the sunrise over the tallest dunes in the world, sometimes reaching 300 meters high, one of the most beautiful sights in Southern Africa! To the west of the Naukluft Mountains, the Sossusvlei region concentrates all the splendor of the Namib. From violet to pale orange, from apricot to bright red, and from pink to purple, all shades reveal themselves on the sand, the stage for the sun and wind's race. After an incredible brunch, take your private flight to Swakopmund, the surprising seaside resort. The afternoon will be dedicated to an excursion in the Moon Valley, a desert of sand and rocks where the reliefs will take the shape of your imagination and where you can discover strange prehistoric plants, the Welwitschias. To top off this day, we have a surprise for you, in the heart of the desert...

Day 12 & 13: WALVIS BAY - CAPE TOWN (SOUTH AFRICA)

Day 12:

This morning, go on a cruise off Walvis Bay to encounter colonies of flamingos, seals, and other species inhabiting the region. After a gourmet picnic on one of the islands, take off from Walvis Bay in the afternoon for South Africa. After a two-hour flight, you are already under the spell of Cape Town… Check-in at the hotel, dinner, and overnight at the Belmond Mount Nelson.

Day 13:

This morning, you will reach the top of Table Mountain (the city's main symbol) by cable car for a breathtaking view of the peninsula and its surroundings. Then, after the exceptional botanical universe of the Kirstenbosch Gardens, explore the city of Cape Town, from the colorful houses of Bo-kaap to the stunning Waterfront.

Day 14 & 15: THE WINE ROUTE - THE CAPE PENINSULA

Day 14:

The day will be devoted to the Wine Route, punctuated by a gourmet lunch and tastings of excellent wines. Defined by a triangle formed by the cities of Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Franschhoek, the Cape Wine Route is the longest in the world! In the setting of grandiose landscapes, discover the numerous vineyards that are the pride and joy of South Africa.

Day 15:

Today you will head to the Cape Peninsula via the scenic Chapman's Peak Drive to Simon's Town and its famous penguins. After a lobster lunch, you will reach the end of the world and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Your evening will be as breathtaking as this stay in Cape Town!

Day 16 & 17: CAPE TOWN

Day 16:

Today you will enjoy your last moments in Cape Town before your long-haul flight in Business Class and return home by private chauffeur.
Overnight on board.

... and if you opt for the "exceptional safari" extension, you will continue to the Sabi Sabi Private Nature Reserve.

Day 17: RETURN HOME

Prices and what is included?

$48,000 USD per person*

Sabi-Sabi Extension: + $9,900 USD*

Solo supplements: + $4,670 USD for the included program (+ $4,670 USD for the Safari extension at Sabi Sabi)

*Prices calculated based on 2 people traveling together, in a group of at least 8 people. Subject to availability at the time of booking.

Our prices include:

  • Round trip pick up by private chauffeur from your home in the continental US and with long-haul commercial flights in Business Class from the closest international airport to your home to Victoria Falls, and from Cape Town back home.
  • Economy Class domestic flights during the trip and private plane flights to Namib Rand, Sesriem, and Swakopmund.
  • Accommodation in double rooms (or cabins) to share as per program (see description) or similar.
  • Full board based on 3 meals per day, including some meals during flights.
  • Your Rovos Rail experience.
  • Standard drinks (water, wine, and soft drinks) at lunches and dinners.
  • All transfers, excursions, and planned visits by minibus, plane, helicopter, train, and boat, with local English-speaking guides.

  • Personal expenses (telephone, laundry, etc.).

    the trip in Cape Town on Day 16 (April 4th, 2024) : price reduction of $3,200 USD.
  • September 2025 Departure : Meet us in Victoria Falls on Day 2 (September 26th, 2025)
    and finish the trip in Cape Town on Day 16 (October 10th, 2025) : price reduction of $3,200 USD.

Formalities

As of October 2nd, 2024 for US citizens:
Passport valid for at least 6 months after the return date and with at least 4 consecutive blank pages. Tourist visa for Victoria Falls (Zambia/Zimbabwe), formalities taken care of.

Yellow fever vaccination and antimalarial treatment recommended but not mandatory.

Registration and payment conditions

- Balance due 60 days before departure.

Insurance

Assistance / baggage / repatriation: included in the price of the trip for participants who are citizens and residents of the European Community. For citizens and/or residents outside the countries of the European Community, assistance and repatriation insurance must be taken out in their country of residence (not included in the price of the trip). Optional cancellation insurance to be contracted at the time of booking: 7,5% of the trip price. See conditions in the policy provided upon subscription. Professional Liability Insurance taken out by Safrans du Monde with GENERALI IARD, 2 rue Pillet Will, 75009 PARIS, up to 2,000,000 euros, policy AT875345, to cover the consequences of professional liability that Safrans du Monde may incur as a travel operator, within the limits of the aforementioned policy.

Cancellation policy

Any cancellation must be communicated by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt and will incur, depending on the date of receipt, the following cancellation fees:

  • 6 months and more before departure : no cancellation fees
  • From 179 to 120 days before departure: 30% of the amount of the trip
  • From 119 to 60 days before departure: 40% of the amount of the trip
  • From 59 to 30 days before departure: 50% of the amount of the trip
  • From 29 to 8 days before departure: 75% of the amount of the trip
  • Less than 8 days before departure: 100% of the amount of the trip

Conditions of application

Our prices are based on a minimum of 8 participants and a maximum of 12, with reference to the economic conditions in force on October 3rd, 2024, including accommodation rates, transportation, fuel, various taxes (stay, security, airport, etc.), and exchange rates of the US Dollar and South African Rand.
This trip is planned based on long-haul flights in Business Class, booking class: D. Depending on the registration date for the trip, booking classes on one or more flights of the aforementioned program may no longer be available. In this event, the trip price may be modified. The client will be notified according to the terms set out in the general terms and conditions of sale attached to the brochure, on the back of the registration form. Furthermore, the airlines are mentioned for indicative purposes and are subject to change without notice. Safrans du Monde cannot be held responsible for this, and no compensation can be claimed in this event. Given the complexity of this trip, one or more activities may be subject to modification or replacement, justified by an event external to the organizer and unforeseen at the time of the brochure's publication (October 3rd, 2024).

Any interruption of the trip that is not due to the organizer will not be subject to any refund, either partial or total, of transport services or other services, except for partial or total coverage by an insurance company within the limits of the insurance contract taken out. Our prices payable in US Dollars (or the equivalent in Euros) are firm; however, they may be revised according to the conditions described below and the terms of the General Conditions of Sale. If the minimum of 8 participants for this program is not reached, the trip may be canceled or proposed on an individual basis.

Regarding significant modifications, such as the cancellation of the departure due to failure to reach the minimum number of participants, the modification of the trip price, or the significant modification of the itinerary, the client will be informed no later than 21 days before departure. In each of these three eventualities, the client will have a period of 8 days upon receipt of the notification to accept the new proposal or request the cancellation of their registration. In this case, the amounts paid by the client will be refunded, but no compensation can be claimed. Similarly, if the trip is canceled due to circumstances related to an epidemic, pandemic, force majeure, or exceptional and unavoidable circumstances, the client will not be entitled to any compensation.

Any complaint will be addressed as soon as possible and no later than 20 days after the return date by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt, attaching the supporting documents to:
